NEW - Green Day, Dookie (Re-Issue) LP
Dookie is the third studio album by American rock band Green Day, released on February 1, 1994, by Reprise Records. It was the band's first collaboration with producer Rob Cavallo and its major record label debut. It was recorded in late 1993, at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, California.
Written mostly by Armstrong, the record is mostly based around his personal experiences, with themes such as boredom, anxiety, relationships, and sexuality. Musically, the album was influenced by several bands, notably Sex Pistols and Black Sabbath. The album was promoted with five singles: "Longview", "Basket Case", a re-recorded version of "Welcome to Paradise", "When I Come Around", and the radio-only "She".
On release and retrospectively, Dookie received critical acclaim, and won the band a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Album in 1995. The album became a worldwide success, reaching number two in the United States and the top five in several other countries. It is credited with bringing punk rock music to mainstream popularity, and propelling Green Day to worldwide fame. Dookie was later certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America, and as of 2014 has sold more than 20 million copies worldwide, making it the band's best seller. In 2003, Rolling Stone ranked the record 193rd on their list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
