One of the best replicas ever made of the popular Speed Racer animated series was done by Schwynn Haas in Japan. High grade aluminium is used with great eye for detail. In Japan the 1:18 models still retail for over $450+. These models are also hard to find in Europe.
Back in the sixties the animated television series Speed Racer was created in Japan. The creator Tatsuo Yoshida was inspired by the movies Viva Las Vegas and James Bond Goldfinger.
That is why the lead character Gō Mifune has a racecar that looks like Elvis Presley designed an Aston Martin.
Cars such as the Mach 5 are still popular all over the world and various model car manufacturers made replicas. But nobody made them as beautifull as Schwynn Haas did.
